PBR 2015 Last Cowboy Standing - Round 5
On May 23, 2015 after four rounds only two bull riders remained... Joao Ricardo Vieira and Stetson Lawrence, both determined to be the Last Cowboy Standing.
These two bull riders returned for round five on the second day of The Last Cowboy Standing, after they had both bucked off their bulls in round four. Joao Ricardo Vieira and Stetson Lawrence would advance to the final round per Last Cowboy Standing rules.
Although Joao Ricardo Vieira or Stetson Lawrence were unable to ride their bulls in Round 5 either, and per event rules, Joao Ricardo Vieira’s higher combined round points after five rounds of competition earned him the win. Joao Ricardo Vieira received a check for $180,000, including the $100,000 Bad Boy Mowers Bonus.
The Last Cowboy Standing was the feature event of Cowboy Spring Break at the MGM Resorts Village in Las Vegas. Last Cowboy Standing is the second of three PBR Major events on the 2015 Built Ford Tough Series schedule.
Unlike the regular season events; The Last Cowboy Standing is a unique event where there are no second chances… it is a progressive-elimination event. Ride eight seconds and move on, buck off and go home. There will be a maximum of five rounds to determine The Last Cowboy Standing. If two riders hang on for eight seconds on all five bulls; the winner is determined by the combined total score from all five bull rides.
We would like to thank the fans, the bull riders, stock contractors, MGM Resorts, and the PBR for the privilege of bringing this unique event to you.
And remember two things ‘Ride 8 seconds, Move on. Come up short. GO HOME,’ and ‘PBR The Toughest Sport on Dirt.’
When the gate cracks, hang onto your hat for an eight second ride you won't soon forget...
